Richard Malagodi Bio

In 2003 Mr. Malagodi co-founded Opus Venture Group LLC.  Opus acts as an intermediary between television shopping networks, manufacturers and inventors to develop innovative consumer products.

Early in 2004, after an initial fund raise of $500,000.00, Opus began operations.  As co-Managing Director, Mr. Malagodi is responsible for working with QVC and outsource professionals to design and produce products designed to take advantage of emerging opportunities.

Opus Venture Group has established itself as a valued partner with QVC and has a number of unique product offers in the pipeline for late 2004 and early 2005.

Prior to co-founding Opus Venture Group, Mr. Malagodi served as President of Inventors' Studio (a division of Big Idea Group www.bigideagroup.net). During his tenure, Mr. Malagodi negotiated a national inventor contest with Staples, Inc. and he developed product roll-out sales and marketing programs with Target, QVC, Inc., and a number of specialty retail chains.

Prior to joining The Big Idea Group, Mr. Malagodi served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Kid Galaxy, Inc., the manufacturer of the Bendos brand of children's toys, Mr. Malagodi guided the Company through 3 years of explosive growth.  In 2002, he sold the company to a publicly traded toy manufacturer listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

 

Mr. Malagodi drove the Company's number one brand, Bendos, to national recognition by being nominated as 'Specialty Toy of the Year' by the Toy Manufacturers Association of America, by appearing on the NBC Today Show, the Rosie O'Donnell show, and by being featured in Newsweek magazine.

Mr. Malagodi developed Kid Galaxy's national sales and marketing campaign for the Bendo brand including the management of multi-million dollar accounts with Target and Toys-R-Us.  In addition, he negotiated and secured licenses with the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, and Major League Baseball.

 

In the past fifteen years, Mr. Malagodi has traveled extensively throughout the world negotiating international distribution agreements and developing extensive manufacturing relationships.

Prior to Kid Galaxy, he was President and CEO of a national athletic footwear manufacturer which held the worldwide license for the Ashworth brand golf shoes.  To fund the Company's growth, he raised several million dollars in equity and debt and in 1998 sold the company to a group of investors and overseas suppliers.

Mr. Malagodi has served on several Boards of Directors, and various advisory boards and committees for industry groups including the National Golf Foundation, the Toy Manufacturers Association of America, and the American Specialty Retailers Association.  Mr. Malagodi holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
